Guyana MormonsGuyana (full name is Co-operative Republic of Guyana) is a tropical country situated on the northern coast of South America. It is the only country in South America where English is the official language. It is bordered by Venezuela on the west, Suriname on the east, Brazil on the south and the Atlantic Ocean on the north.

Guyana has an area of 214,969 sq km (83,000 sq mi), about the size of Great Britain.

The name Guyana is an Amerindian word meaning Land Of Many Waters. We are known as the country of Six People- Africans, Amerindians, Chinese, East Indians, Europeans and Portugese. Guyana is notably famous for Kaieteur Falls, which is situated on the Potaro River, where that river falls off the Pakaraima Plateau.

The following was received from: Stewart Foss

"This is what Iremember. I served in Guyana in 1998, and am current on info up to July 2000. This all depends on the accuracy of my memory. There are currently 3 branches and one group in Guyana. there are two large branches in the city of Georgetown. The Georgetown branch on the North of the Gardens and the Garden Park to the South. These branches are thriving. attendance seems to increase weekly. They are in the process of building their first chapel, it will be in Prashad Nagar. They averaged about 150-180 people at church each week."

"There is a smaller branch across the river in Sisters Village. It is called the Patentia branch. It much smaller but has many awesome members. It averages about 30-40 each week. The group (which may be a branch by now) is Berbice, or New Amsterdam. It was started in 1999 and has grown rapidly. When I was in the mission they regularily had over 100% attendance because of the number of investigators. Last I heard 80 people on sunday was regular. This is my recolection of the Guyana. They generally had 24+ missionaries, but that number fluctuated. 8 in each of the Georgetown branches 4 in patentia and 4 in berbice."

Could this Romney gaffe cost him the election?

Mitt Romney has had some questionable responses to seemingly easy to defend attacks - such as the idiotic barrage of 'Capitalist!' darts thrown at him a few weeks ago. Plus he's had a few Biden-esque moments, providing the media with lines like 'I like to fire people' and other things that make him sound super elitist. But his latest mistake has even fellow conservatives scratching their heads: 'I'm not concerned with the poor' is the quote, and the context isn't much better Ref. Source 1
