Latter-Day Saint LDS News:
Lds Missionary Dies In England
From http://www.ldslivingonline.com/article.php?articleId=55617

QUOTE
A 23-year-old woman serving a proselytizing mission for the Mormon church died while jogging.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints says Lindsey Spjute collapsed and died Saturday in Birmingham, England.

Richard L. McKenna, Spjute's Farmington stake president, said the woman's death came without any warning.

Spjute was thought to be in good health and ran the Ogden marathon last year.

A coroner was not able to reach any conclusion about the cause of her death.

This is one of those sad things that are hard to take, especially when they are serving the Lord. I pray for the family of this young woman and hope they find peace.

Captured from videoWell its finally out - my thoughts and observations of the 'Special Fireside' on the 20th May, 2002. I wanted to give full video on CD but found that the technology was not up to mark as yet. To try and save quality I placed full audio clips of the talks, some video and animated pictures of the fireside, Trinidad and meeting with the Prime Minister in a third Ebook. I added it to the current CD at no extra cost. I promised each Branch that they would get a FREE copy to lend out to members only on a limited basis! If you want your own copy - check the new Ebook for details at: http://www.bordeglobal.com/ebook/index.php

Pres. Gordon B. Hinckley, Sr. Hinckley, daughter,
Pres. James E. Faust and grandson visit Trinidad!

The visit was magnificent and soul edifying for all. They (Pres. Hinckley and Faust) met with the Prime Minister of Trinidad & Tobago, Hon. Patrick Manning at the White Hall in Port of Spain.

Pres. Hinckley expressed appreciation to Mr. Manning for his involvement in allowing Church organizations such as the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and its missionaries to be in Trinidad.

The special fireside at Cascadia was conducted by Pres. Albert Alleyne. Speakers were the Van Noys (West Indies Mission), Pres. Faust and Hinckley). The District Primary sung two delightful primary songs that made the Hinckleys smile. The words of the evening were significant, heartfelt, enlightening and full of Spirit for all those who attended.

I am currently trying to add all my thoughts and observations to be added to the History of the Saints in Trinidad & Tobago. Due to limited time I cannot share more with you at the moment, but promise to let you know more soon. If you would like immediate updates please subscribe to: subscribe@bordeglobal.com

The photo below was one of the few that I caught on my digital camera. I was able to record most of the fireside on my camcorder and will be extracting images from that soon. Stay tuned.

Today the Port of Spain Trinidad District Presidency's Counselors were changed by the West Indies Mission Presidency. The following are the details:

District President: Albert Alleyne
1st Counselor: Jean A. B. Borde
2nd Counselor: Emrol Gould
District Clerk: Austin Mendoza
New District Councilman: Ramesh Ramoutar

The Conference was very reverent and many had to stand as there was not enough seats for everyone. The Sangre Grande Branch choir under the direction of Sr. Karen Williamson did a lovely rendition of one of the hymns.

Pres. Don Van Noy, President of the West Indies Mission announced that Pres. Gordon B. Hinckley and Pres. James E. Faust of the First Presidency will be visiting Trinidad on the 20th May, 2002. More details to come.

Pres. Alleyne spoke about the requirements for a Stake in Trinidad and hoped for the members to press forward collectively to accomplish this goal. He said that the District had approximately 1,418 members but needed more active Melchizedek priesthood in each of the five Branches.

It is the goal of the new District Presidency to see a Stake realized in Trinidad & Tobago. Please also see: West Indies Mission Alumni Site and the History of the Saints.
